Deutsche Grammophon is set to record a new “Tosca” to commemorate the centenary of Puccini’s death. This recording will launch a multi-year collaboration between Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the German label.
The recording will be conducted by Daniel Harding and will feature Eleonora Buratto in the title role, Jonathan Tetelman as Cavaradossi, and Ludovic Tézier as Scarpia. The cast will also include Giorgi Manoshvili, Davide Giangregorio, and Matteo Macchioni. The Puccini classic is scheduled to be performed in concert form on 21, 24, and 26 October 2024.
Buratto recently debuted as Tosca at the Bayerische Staatsoper, while Tézier is widely acclaimed for his portrayal of the villanous Scarpia, having played the role at the Wiener Staatsoper, Salzburg Festival, and Arena di Verona, among others. Tetelman, known for his interpretation of Cavaradossi, has performed the tragic hero in Vienna, Berlin, and beyond.
