Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music has announced its 2024-25 season, featuring a variety of vocal performances.
The Rice Chorale will perform on September 11, November 25, 2024, and April 14, 2025.
Ana María Martínez & Friends will be in recital on September 13, 2024, with the soprano joined by opera department students and pianist Bethany Self.
Louis Lohrsaeb will conduct “Alcina,” directed by Crystal Manich, on November 1 and 3, 2024.
Ryan McKinny & Friends in Recital, featuring the renowned bass-baritone and Shepherd School opera students, will be directed by Tonya McKinny on November 9, 2024.
“Spirit of the Season” will present voice and instrumental students on December 7, 2024.
A performance spotlighting a world premiere by Richard Lavenda for two vocalists and chamber ensemble, with Thomas Jaber, Marianne Gedigian, Benjamin Kamins, and James Dunham, will take place on January 16, 2025.
Benjamin Manis will conduct Patricia Racette’s production of John Corigliano’s “The Ghosts of Versailles,” with productions preceded by “Inside Opera: Pre-Show Talks” on April 11 and 13, 2025.
