Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva is launching a charity initiative at her former music school to mark the 70th anniversary of Opera Plovdiv. The project aims to support young musicians by providing students from Dobrin Petkov School with free tickets to performances at the Plovdiv Opera throughout the year. The objective is to foster the growth and enjoyment of music among emerging artists.
Yoncheva, who has performed at renowned venues such as the MET, Berlin, and Barcelona, will soon take on the role of Tosca in upcoming shows in Japan, Germany, England, Rome, and Plovdiv.
Regarding her charity, Yoncheva remarked, “My team and I are committed to working closely with young people and helping them experience various forms of art. This will aid their development into strong artists.” She also highlighted the role of art in addressing mental health issues among youth, stating, “We should support this idea every day as a caring society.”
